Historically speaking, oil and gas is an industry that is driven by its stakeholders. When times are good, companies maximise their margins to benefit the stakeholders, and market forces can change at the drop of a hat. Enter the issues of climate change and corporate sustainability. While these topics are certainly not new, the average consumer has become much more discerning of the companies they support, and how they are actively attempting to reduce environmental impact. Many organisations have committed to net-zero transitions, from Target to Salesforce, and oil and gas is doing its part as well.
