Al plays huge role in genetic advance

WIDESPREAD use of artificial breeding technology is a major factor behind the relatively fast genetic progress achieved in French breeds. According to the communications director at the Agena artificial breeding co-operative, Francoise Gimet, 15% to 30% of beef cows in France are artificially inseminated. In some registered herds, use of artificial insemination (AI) can be as high as 50% of cows.
