Noting the article about the USAAF Tiger Moth in the March issue, I thought I'd let you know about our wedding vow renewal held at The Tiger Moth Squadron at Sherburn in Elmet airfield near York last July. Missing out on our 30th wedding anniversary in 2020 thanks to the pandemic, we decided to do something big and approached Alan Fish at the squadron who helped organise, with his fantastic team, a 1940s-themed wedding vow renewal around three wonderful Tiger Moths. We managed to get a beautiful 1930s American car, a Willys Jeep and a 1940s-style singer, Claire-Louise. A lot of our guests turned up appropriately dressed too. Christine's dad walked her down the 'aisle' and Mike Cooney, an old friend and an aviation-minded retired vicar, came and officiated for us. Our daughter made the wedding cake with a bit of modelling help from a friend of mine, creating a 1∶48 scale Tiger Moth. The reception was held on site at a new classic car-themed venue, The Motorist. The day went above and beyond expectation. I cannot thank the teams at The Tiger Moth Squadron and The Motorist and all those that came to support us enough.
