Aculeate wasps and bees are associated with open, sunny and sheltered sites. Their main requirements are food resources, particularly pollen and nectar for bees, prey for wasps, and nesting sites (either subterranean, usually in dry friable soils or aerial in hollow plant stems, old beetle burrows in dead wood and crevices in old mortar).
