Aero rolling rood open for auto business: NRC Aerospace has a new rolling road in its wind tunnel, ready for automotive industry aerodynamicists

The aerodynamics researchers at the Ottawa-based National Research Council of Canada's Institute for Aerospace Research (NRC Aerospace) have a new tool in their arsenal to help the automotive industry. This fall, NRC Aerospace opened a 5.6m 'rolling road' for client use in its 9m × 9m (30ft × 30ft) wind tunnel. Designed to simulate the movement of the road relative to the car, this new ground-effects simulation system can generate conditions underneath a car that simulate a real vehicle in motion on a given road surface.
