摘要

Read's Island is a low-lying, small island close to the northern Lincolnshire shoreline near South Ferriby, in the upper Humber estuary. Howes (2020) suggests that the island might have developed from a sand bank, South Ferybye Sand, that appears on a 1699 plan of the Humber by Thomas Surbey. Further silt deposition, as well as significant erosion, has determined the size of the island, which has changed over time.
