摘要

While technological and material innovation will play a signifi cant role in confronting the societal challenges of the 21st century, examining our engineering history provides rich opportunities for reappraisal, in the context of the climate emergency. At all levels of the profession, broadening our education to incorporate the esoteric and interdisciplinary fringes of this history will create the necessary conditions to challenge the status quo.
