Covestro has launched a range of bio-based TPUs under the brand name Desmo-pan EC.With up to 60% of its carbon content derived from biomass depending on the hardness required,the company claims that the material's carbon footprint can be reduced by more than 20% compared with conventional TPUs.Aimed specifically at sports and leisure footwear applications and said to be an effort to move towards a circular economy model,Desmopan is a key component of a set of concept shoes Covestro produced with Brazilian manufacturer Beira Rio.One of these is a women's high heeled shoe.
