Premier's plan raises heat over troubled water

CANEGROWERS is this week gearing up to take part in a statewide media and political campaign aimed at achieving fair and equitable water prices for members. The move follows the recent release of Premier Peter Beattie's controversial Water Plan 2005-2010. At the forefront of the campaign is CANEGROWERS Board Member (Race-course/Pleystowe) Doug Lamb, also Chairman of CANEGROWERS Irrigation Committee and recently appointed Chair of the Queensland Farmers Federation's Water Policy Committee. "Mr Beattie's new charges have bought the whole issue of water pricing to a head," Mr Lamb said.
