In the May 2022 issue of Steam Days we joined Leslie R Freeman and James (Jim) Harrold as they set out from London (Waterloo) on Sunday, 29 May 1960 to embark on a week long tour of the railways of Devon and Cornwall. The outward journey was based on the Southern Region route to Plymouth, and then the first day's touring in the west picked off three ex-Great Western branches west of Truro. A second night based in Truro preceded the following account.
