While the captioned vessel was underway with the Main engine speed at 500min-1,the Main engine control mode was switched over from MANUAL to AUTO to increase speed.Immediately after that,the governor started hunting,and the Main engine speed dropped from 500min-l to 300min-1 automatically.At this time,the Maneuvering system abnormal alarm activated.In order to prevent the Main engine from stopping,the Maneuvering handle was set at"STOP ENGINE".Even after the Main engine was declutched,the Main engine speed kept decreasing until about 200min-1.The control modewaschangedfromAUTOtoMANUAL,and the engine speed was increased to Navigation Full Ahead at 516min-l and the ship got underway.
