Alternative packaging- Winemakers are told to 'minimise the oxygen' when using new cost-saving and environmental-friendly packages

With the tight funding for extension efforts in California, private laboratoriesand consulting service firms are providing an invaluable supplement. One example was a Vinquiry Seminar on wine packaging, which covered such topics as quality control during bottling, procurement of bottles, bottle failures and cork contamination, labels and adhesives, mobile bottling and, especially, a comprehensive session on the issues involved in alternative packaging.
