In recent years, mergers and acquisitions have changed the chemical industry in general, and the polyure-thanes industry, in particular. And so it is with US-based multinational SI Group. The company was formed from a web of amalgamations, with a family tree that goes something like this: Uniroyal Chemical Corporation merged with Crompton & Knowles, which merged with Witco to form Crompton Corporation, which acquired Great Lakes and became Chem-tura, which sold part of its business to Addivant in 2013, with SI Group (formerly Albemarle) acquiring Addivant in 2018. This is obviously a simplification and doesn't include GE Specialty Chemicals, to name one omission.
