FIG. 1 shows a diagram of a stator 100 and a rotor 120 in a permanent magnetm synchronous motor (PMSM). The stator 100 includes a plurality of teeth 102, 104, with each of the teeth 102, 104 having one of two different tooth widths W-ΔW, and W+ΔW.The widths W-ΔW, and W+ΔW may define a dimension of the teeth 102, 104 in a circumferential direction around the stator 100. Each of the two different tooth widths W-ΔW, W+ΔW may be determined by a baseline width W +/- a change in tooth width ΔW. Specifically, the teeth 102, 104 are either one of a thicker tooth 102 or a thinner tooth104. The teeth 102, 104 are arranged in a repeating pattern around the stator 100. Each of any two adjacent ones of the teeth 102, 104 defines a slot 110 therebetween for holding one or more coils 112a, 112b, 112c.
