WITH so many macro-economic factors impacting on grain futures during March, let's focus on the weather 'fundamental' to get an insight into what future global grain production prospects are likely to be. Temperatures in the western Canadian provincesof Alberta and Saskatchewan have been slowly warming up, with current temperatures of -8°C, compared to -24°C last week. Forecast is for a more mild 0-1 °C, beginning the slow process of melting the thick snow pack. Delayed planting is the main concern six weeks out from the spring planting window.
