Mayer & Cie has installed two natural gas-fired combined heat and power plants (CHPs). The CHPs have an output of 900 KW, which the company expects will meet between 80-90% of the heating requirements of its Albstadt-Tailfingen site in Germany and its approximately 300 employees. The CHPs will also generate 50% of the electricity used and, in the summer months, 50% of the energy required for cooling. The company says that should save it around 380,000 litres of heating oil per year.
