The survey was open to all veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses, veterinary receptionists, practice managers and veterinary students, including veterinary nursing students based in Ireland. After a phenomenal response from the veterinary profession,Vets Against Puppy Farming were able to share the results of their qualitative survey with all participants in June 2021.Open for completion over 10 weeks, between November and December 2020, the survey attracted over 300 responses, of whom 51 per cent were veterinary surgeons and just under 40 per cent were veterinary nurses. The remainder of responses came in from receptionists, practice managers and students. In all, 85 per cent of these respondents were female, while 65 per cent of respondents stated that they worked solely in companion animal practice. A total of 35 per cent of responses came from those involved in mixed practices. Half of respondents were working in practices located in towns, while 35 per cent of responses were from individuals working in cities. The remaining 16 per cent of respondents identified as working in a rural setting. Interestingly enough, over 45 per cent of respondents had graduated into the profession in the last five years.
