Formosiepyris takasago Terayama, 2004 (Hymenoptera: Bethylidae), New to Japan

Formosiepyris takasago Terayama，2004 is newly recorded from Japan based on six males collected in the Southern Ryukyus. The bethylid genus, Formosiepyris Terayama, 2004 is distinguished by having larger eye with setae, antenna with 13 antennomeres, anteromesoscutum depressed, with foveolate transverse groove, posterolateral corner of metapectal-propodeal complex two-toothed (Terayama, 2004; Azevedo et al” 2018). Hitherto, five species have been recorded from the Oriental region (Azevedo et al” 2018). One of the, Oriental species, Formosiepyris takasago Terayama, 2004 is characterized by having the tridentate mandible, the apically rounded clypeus, the surface between median and inner submedian carina of metapectal-propodeal complex with a longitudinal carina, the 2nd gastral tergite densely micropunctate (Terayama, 2004). Previously, it is known only from Taiwan, however, we found six male specimens from Yonaguni-jima Island and Ishigaki-jima Island, the Southern Ryukyus, Japan.
