© 2022, Scibulcom Ltd.. All rights reserved.The brake system is considered to be one of the vital systems in vehicles to maintain the safety of passengers. Where the main purpose of brake system is to reduce the vehicle speed or stop it safely under different operating conditions (vehicle with full load, no load, high speeds, etc.) and on different roads, whether it is dry or wet. The most important reason for reducing the efficiency and performance of the brake system is the excessive heat that is generated during the braking process. Where, large part of the kinetic energy is converted into thermal energy as a result of the friction between the disc and pads. In this research paper, it will be investigated deeply the thermal stresses that are generated due the high temperatures that occur during the brake system applying different values of speed for vehicle. It was used the finite element method to build the numerical model of the brake system. The results will be presented. The results presented the thermal stresses and temperatures during the braking process. It was found out that the speed of the vehicle has a significant influence of the thermal behavior of the brake system.
