The only airworthy Douglas DC-3 in Sweden is flying again following two years of maintenance work carried out by its owner, the Flygande Veteraner (Flying Veterans) association. The famous transport, registered SE-CFP and named Daisy, will be 80 years old in 2023 - it was first delivered to the USAAF in 1943. After serving in North Africa and in Europe on D-Day, it was sold to Norway after the war. Following a civilian career, it was acquired by two private individuals, Jimmie Berglund and Ingemar Waerme, for SEK 80,000 (around £6,200), who formed a foundation to operate it. The aircraft's first flight for its current owners was made in June 1984, its civilian registration revived from the one it wore with former operator Linjeflyg. Today the association is run entirely by volunteers.
