This article will focus on the redesign of a Juniperus chinensis. This tree originates from Japan and has been in preparation for a long time in its transition to an interesting bonsai. I got it from Danny Use, a well-known Belgian bonsai master. He is also the owner of the Ginkgo Bonsai Center and the organizer of the most prestige European Bonsai Exhibition—the Ginkgo Awards. It was in 1999 when I traded this juniper for a pine tree. As I realized right away, this tree had not been repotted for along time. From its appearance, it was not in good shape and it was getting even worse quite quickly. Therefore, my first step was logical. It was necessary to repot it into a first-rate free draining substrate—sieved akadama that was free of dust. Theresult was visible immediately.
