摘要

Rectangular Continuous Transverse Reinforcement (RCTR), as a replacement for conventional ties, is a relatively new form of reinforcement that can accelerate and facilitate the construction of reinforcement for RC members. In this study, the compressive behavior of concrete members with this kind of reinforcement is experimentally and theoretically investigated. Twenty-eight RC short column specimens with multiple arrangements for bar size and spacing of transverse reinforcement; including RCTR and conventional ties are examined under monotonic and half-cyclic loadings. The results imply that RCTR is a valid substitute for traditional ties and to a certain extent can improve the compressive strength of RC members. Based on Elasto-Plastic and Fracture (EPF) concrete model, a theoretical method is proposed in order to predict the behavior of such members, which conforms well with the experimental results. Furthermore, the validity of existing design provisions in the compressive design of these members is investigated.
