To kick off 2022, the International Labour Organisation (ILO) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA). The agreement aims to boost the occupational health and safety of workers in the country’s knitwear factories and the work will focus on the 50 member factories of the BKMEA. ILO and the BKMEA say they will provide training and technical assistance to factory safety committees, including on issues related to clothing production, health and safety, assessing risk, accident reductions and dealing with Covid-19.
