Reading the article From Warplane To Film Star about the Mosquito in the September issue, my eye was drawn to page 32, which featured a colour starboard view of Mosquito TW117 taken circa 1962. This prompted me to revisit my old photo album where I found a picture of the same aircraft taken around the same time as your example, only from the port side and in black and white. During the 1960s, I was a member of the Royal Observer Corps, and aircraft recognition was a part of our training. We were invited to attend a special air show put on for the Corps at Little Rissington [in Gloucestershire] where WT117 was one of the participating aircraft. I took the picture with my Kodak Brownie Flash 2 camera. Unfortunately this image was the only one to develop out of my eight shot film, but it is nevertheless a treasured memory. I think we were told the aircraft was used for weather recce at that time, but I was never sure if that was true. Towards the tail are two chaps, one wearing observer corps uniform, who walked into shot at the wrong time but they do give a sense of scale.
