Salmon season summary: The 2022 statewide sockeye salmon harvest of 74.8 million fish was the largest on record, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game reported.The big sockeye haul, attributable largely to Bristol Bay, highlighted a generally bright salmon season.The harvest of all salmon species tallied 160.7 million fish, a 31 percent decrease from 2021."This decrease is explained by relatively low pink salmon run size in 2022, a consistent trend for even-numbered years over the last decade," the department said.In terms of dollars, the commercial salmon fishery rang up a preliminary ex-vessel value of $720.4 million, up from the $643.9 million reported after 2021 season.
