I guess you'd call it a wash rather than a creek as it was only a couple of hundred metres long, just draining runoff from a fold in the hills. Detecting was difficult as the metre-wide gravelly water course wound around scrubby vegetation that was quite unyielding. Pushing through them I hoped that as the branches sprang back, they took out some of the swarm of small bush flies that seemed to have nothing better to do than annoy the hell out me.
