The concept for this invention is to utilize the flow forming process to mate an aluminum housing/shell to an intemally and extemally splined steel ring. A steel ring with part functional intermal splines will be placed over the normal flow forming mandrel. During the flow forming process where aluminum material is rolled and pushed over the mandrel it will also be pushed over this steel ring with the material flowing into the external splines of the steel ring capturing the ring and forming a single assembly. The steel ring will be captured within the aluminum housing when the part is ejected from the mandrel generatin a single part.
