The USMA has benefited greatly from the use of the metric.org domain name ever since it was provided for our use by a long-time metric advocate Jim Gottlieb. Even when the USMA website was hosted by Colorado State University (CSU, where I continue to work), the metric.org domain name pointed to the much longer URL that CSU required for any of the websites it hosted. CSU hosting came to an end many years ago and the USMA has since then used a third-party hosting service (BlueHost) and then started using us-metric.org as a domain name. That was changed to a more appropriate usma.org thanks to the efforts of our current webmaster, Varun Varada. But we still had metric.org as a secondary domain. What is new, however, is that metric.org has now been transferred to the USMA's direct control. We will maintain both domain names and let all others go. While our primary domain is usma.org, metric.org is a convenient and easy alternative, especially for anyone looking for metric system information and not knowing about the USMA's existence.
