Rosneft and cNPc keep talking

China’s state-owned CNPC could become Rosneft’s main upstream part- ner onshore and second-largest after ExxonMobil in the Arctic if the pro- jects being discussed by the two com- panies materialise. In the latest talks between Rosneft chief executive Igor Sechin and CNPC leadership last week, the firms dis- cussed prospects for joint exploration of the Zapadno-Prinovozemelsky and Yuzhno-Russky blocks in the Barents Sea, and the Medynsko-Varandeisky block in the Pechora Sea. Onshore, they discussed joint development of fields in the Irkutsk region, Krasnoyarsk territory and Timan Pechora’s autonomous Nenets district.
