We thank Koehne and Patel for their insightful discussion of our article. The focus of our study is to describe perceptions of the general public on the topic of TC and TSE. We agree wholeheartedly that supportive data from large-scale screening studies are needed before clear endorsement for TSE is provided by public health authorities. For the time being, we advocate increased awareness of TC as a health issue in younger men. We also believe that men should at least understand the topic of TSE conceptually so that they can make an informed decision on whether or not to do this. Even if routine self-examination is not performed, this education could increase public awareness of urogenital cancers at a young age, ideally prompting patients to seek early medical attention earlier when symptomatic.
