Reader Survey Results. This year's survey was conducted in mid-January 2022, toward the end of the COVID Omicron surge in the United States. And although the pandemic is still on a lot of people's mind, it didn't seem to weight quite as heavily in this year's result - at least not directly. The disease has had a long-lasting effect on the workforce, supply chain and overall economy, and these things continue to weigh heavily on our industry, just as they do most other industries, manufacturing or not. Apart from pandemic and its lasting effects, the trend that has the gear industry most concerned is the continued focus on electrification of the auto industry. It's a technological disruption that has nearly all gear manufacturers in that sector worried about their future.
