The lift between the two floors of Shena and Grahame Christian’s place gets a real workout when the grandkids come to stay. Built with the future in mind, the Whitianga home is also pure fun in the here and now. It’s not just youngsters who can pusha button and have a good time - it’s adults too.The Christians, who bought land on the waterways in 2014, saw that moving here could do wonders for their well-being. Shena had battled breast cancer and Grahame was working 70-hour weeks in the refuse and recycling business that he owned. It was go, go, go, and while they didn’t want to step away from their involvement altogether, they yearned for a better balance.
