摘要

The numerical investigation of transient elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) line contact rolling/sliding with bio-based oil as lubricant. The mathematical formulation of the governing problem includes Reynolds equation with squeeze term, film thickness and load balance equations with appropriate boundary conditions. The governing system of nonlinear coupled equations are discretized by the second order finite difference approximations. The resulting nonlinear systems of equations are solved by using multigrid method viz. Full approximation scheme (FAS) along with multi-level multi-integration (MLMI) technique. The numerical results of transient EHL line contact with variation of load and speed for different bio-based lubricants are obtained. The profiles of different bio-based lubricant of pressures and film thickness are depicted for each time step. The multigrid solution validates the essential of time dependent gain of EHL problems with surface roughness and method requires less computer memory space. Also, the convergence of the proposed method is much faster than other pure numerical schemes. The solutions obtained are validated with earlier findings and are comparable.
