The industrial revolution in the 19th century affected all areas of life - including the field of building. In 1851 the famous Crystal Palace in London, which was made entirely of iron parts and glass, represented the birth of a primal vision of modernism. The dream of a home produced in the factory. What has become of this vision? Through the digitalization and robotization of individual areas of building mechanization appears to be advancing ahead of the skilled manual approach that still dominates the way our buildings are produced.
