A field investigation was conducted to evaluate the comparative efficacy of certain insecticides against Helicoverpa armigera (Hiibner) infesting chickpea at Agriculture Research Farm, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, U.P., during Rabi 2017-18. Theresults revealed that Chlorantiniprole 18.5 SC 92g a.i. ha~(-1) followed by Flubendamide 39.35 EC 49g a.i. ha~(-1) and Spinosad 45 SC 74g a.i. ha~(-1) were found most effective in reducing H. armigera population and pod damage. The highest yield was recorded in the treatment Chlorantiniprole 18.5 SC 92g a.i. her1 (17.33 q ha~(-1)) followed by Flubendamide 39.35 EC 49g a.i. ha~(-1) (16.44 q ha~(-1)) and Spinosad 45 SC 74ga.i. ha~(-1) (15.55 q ha~(-1)). The maximum yield increase over control was recorded in treatment Chlorantiniprole 18.5 SC 92g a.i. ha~(-1) (97.60%) and minimum in treatment Acephate 75 WP 750 g a.i. ha~(-1) (14.48%). The highest avoidable yield loss was recorded in Chlorantiniprole 18.5 SC92ga.i. ha~(-1) (49.39%) and lowest avoidableyield losses were noticed in Acephate 75 WP 750 g a.i. ha~(-1) (12.64%). The highest benefit: cost ratio was observed in Indoxacarb 14.5 EC 36 g a.i. ha~(-1) (7.78:1) and lowest benefit: cost ratio was recordedfrom Chlorantiniprole 18.5 SC 92g a.i. ha~(-1) (1.19:1).
