All rights reserved.As we showed in first part of this work1, the Progressive Cavity Pumps (PCP) are used in petroleum industry to lift / extract, high viscosity, fluids, with or with out any solid particles, as heavy crude oil, aromatic condensates, tight emulations etc. The service life time of these pumps can be maximized, mainly, by choosing suitable materials for the stator (elastomers) and rotor (steels). The purpose of this research was to study the wear behavior of rotor-stator couplings, using, steel chrome plated and WC based coating with High Velocity Oxygen Flame (HVOF) for rotor, combined with three types of elastomers for stator1. The friction coefficient and the wears were determined under conditions of pure sliding. The abrasive wear tests, were carried out by using a Baroid Lubricity Tester, represented in1. All the tests were performed at temperatures of 50±20C and 70±20C, under the same conditions (equipment, methodology, materials and environment) represented in1 for temperature of 22±2oC. Because the ring surface is characterized by it roughness, thickness of the coating and hardness, in this paper, a study is represented regarding the roughness of the surface samples/ rings loaded with tungsten carbide and chrome plated. Also the values are represented for thickness of the coating and its hardness.
