In the 1970s and 80s,the majority of Britain'sroads were lined with poorly controlled low-pressure sodium lighting(with their familiarorange glow),with a large percentage of theiremissions going skywards.On 28 April 2008,BobMizon and David Paul of the BAA's Campaignfor Dark Skies(CfDS),presented an award to theHighways Agency at their headquarters in Londonfor their work towards ensuring that in future,litmotorways and trunk roads will have full-cut-offlighting which directs light only downwards.
