Traditional methods of palette generation and master standard production can achieve significant improvements in colour quality together with time and cost savings. Digital colour communication can be used for the exchange of colour ideas, the generation of master standards and the quality control of laboratory or production dyeings produced by geographically distant suppliers. By the use of engineered master standards and digital colour communication, further improvements in colour quality, with cost and time savings can be obtained. The latter is an important factor in today's "quick response, retailer-led" industry.
