Exports in May recorded a relatively high 8.2% growth at US$1.6 billion - second highest for any month in the current year - and pushed the 11 -month (July 06 -May 07) total to $15.5 billion. This was 3.6% higher compared with the previous corresponding period, but still far behind the year's target of $ 18.6 billion. The $3.1 billion shortfall is unlikely to be covered by June exports. Thus, the year will end with, at best, a total figure of $17.5 billion - some $1.1 billion behind target.
