I only ever saw this one 'B17', and if my memory serves me well, it too was in sparkling ex-works condition. Years later I was astonished to see that it was withdrawn on 17 September 1959, presumably without resuming work. Somewhere I did find mention that it was not in fact withdrawn on 17 September but a few weeks later, from Cambridge. I cannot find this reference again. I realise that many, many locos were scrapped just to meet accountants targets, but it seems a particular act of vandalism if Darlington was scrapped within weeks of a general overhaul.
