With the recent advances in communications and informationtechnology, real-time traffic routing has emerged as promisingapproach to alleviating congestion. Existing approaches to developingreal-time routing strategies, however, have limitations. This studyexamines the potential for using case-based rea- soning(CBR), anemerging artificial intelligence paradigm, to overcome suchlimitations. CBR solves new problems by reusing solutions of similarpast problems.
