Gail may reach agreement on Egypt PE by end-2004

GAIL (India)expects to reach an agreement by the end of this year on a possible investment in a polyethylene (PE)expansion project being planned by Egypt's Sidi Krir Petrochemicals Co (Sidpec),a senior Gail official told ACN.Gail began negotiations with Sidpec six months ago.ACN's sister agency,CNI,reported earlier that Sidpec,which is part of the government-owned Echem group,was proposing to expand its ethylene capacity to 440 000 tonne/year from 300 000 tonne/year at its sole petrochemical complex at Ameriya near Alexandria.
