Two types of tissues from a bovine anidian monster were cultured for karyotyping. Only the female sex chromosome complement was observed in 162 metaphases. The modal number of chromosomes in 38 photographed metaphases was 61. There was a large unpaired acrocentric chromosome in 60, XX and 61, XX cells. Two explanations for the presence of this unpaired autosome are given. In 373 metaphases from a leukocyte culture of the monster’s normal male twin, only the XY complement was observed and the modal chromosome number was 60. The monster and its twin were dizygotic twins of unlike sex without blood cell chimerism. The possible origin of the monster is discusse
