Bidding for Basell heats up

BASELL has received five or six bids for its assets after opening the bidding process in early November,a source close to the company said.BASF,which owns Basell with Shell,said the target for completing the divestment was mid-2005.The assets are to be sold either through a private sale or through an initial public offering (IPO).Preparations to launch an IPO have already begun.
