ASIAN benzene markets were bullish last week,bucking the sharp decrease in crude values,on the back of surging benzene prices in the US and Europe.The higher US benzene prices prompted South Korean producers to conclude deals to ship 40 000-50 000 tonne of material to the US this week.There has been a dramatic increase in Asian shipments to the US this year over last year.Asia would have shipped 265 000 tonne of South Korean material to the US by July this year,more than double the volumes shipped in the whole of last year.In 2003,104 000 tonne of benzene made its way from South Korea to the US,said Bert de Guzman of DeWitt and Co..
