How we do welcome the appearance of swelling buds and delicate new foliage?Potting/Repotting:March is the best of times to pot/repot evergreen trees, and you may even repot some deciduous trees in early March if you were fearful of doing so in February. Just be sure the foliage is in the beginning budding stage-otherwise, don't do so. It is a good idea to remove from one-third to one-half the root ball when repotting, and be sure to remove the dead soil/roots from underneath the main trunk. Not doing this can weaken the tree. If there are large, heavy roots, remove them to promote growth of the fine root structure which is best for bonsai. After repotting, do place the tree in a sunny area, protected from winds, as this aids in stimulating root development.
