The California Independent System Operator’s Western EnergyImbalance Market welcomed three new participants April 5,bringing the number of members to 23 and stretching the realtimemarket into Texas.With the addition of Western Area Power AdministrationDesert Southwest region, El Paso Electric, and Avangrid, WEIMmembers now represent nearly 80% of the demand within theWestern Electricity Coordinating Council.“Because of their varied resources and location, these newWEIM partners further strengthen regional collaboration andcoordination in the West,” CAISO President and CEO Elliot Mainzersaid in an April 5 statement. “It’s been a pleasure to work withthem in support of their effort to achieve enhanced operationalefficiencies while providing cost savings to their customers.”
