US distillate stocks realized a counter-seasonal build in the week to Oct. 14, the US Energy Information Administration reported Oct. 19, amid a pullback in exports and lower demand. Nationwide distillate stocks climbed 120,000 barrels to 106.19 million barrels, the EIA said, against a typical draw of around 2 million barrels seen during the period over the past five years. The counter-seasonal build pulled stocks off five-month lows seen the week prior, but left them still tight at around 21% behind the five-year average.
