摘要

Rice is an important staple food crop in India and it is being infected by many fungi, bacteria and viruses during crop growth period resulting 37% of yield loss. Among these, bacterial crown rot caused by Erwinia spp. is an important disease of rabirice in Nalgonda District Telangana. Initially the symptoms are observed at tillering and will continue up to post flowering stage. Important symptoms are decayed crown part with soft rotting, later turn to dark brown to black with discoloured streaks extending to the lower nodes of culms. The infected tillers die and exhibit putrid odour, a key symptom of bacterial infestation. The roots also turn black and die, adventitious roots are produced at the node above the crown area and under severe conditions plants ultimately die and lodged.
