Accessibility and findability of local e-government websitesin the Czech Republic

This article focuses on the accessibility of locale-government web pages. Accessibility is herein consid-ered in a broader perspective, taking also into account thatinformation must be findable within the Internet throughconventional fulltext search engines. Based on thisassumption, an analysis of 39 local e-government websitesin the Czech Republic was carried out in two testingperiods (March 2006 and April 2008). The web pages wereanalysed both from a citizen's point of view (with disad-vantage due to disability or to technical equipment) andfrom the point of view of fulltext search engines. In theanalysis of results, there is an overall evaluation andcomparison between testing periods and recommendationsfor improvement of the current conditions.
